October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer continues to spread throughout the country. It is now estimated that 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Statistics like this speak for themselves, so I’d love for you guys to join me this month in helping to kick breast cancer’s ass. For every session booked in October, In My Boudoir will donate 5% to a breast cancer charity of my choice at the end of the month. I plan to donate all proceeds or $350, whichever is higher. Please note that your session does not have to be shot but simply booked in October to be included in the donation. So, ladies, put on your sexiest pink négligée and let’s keep cancer out of our boudoirs!
It always makes my job easier as a photographer when the people I’m working with like to have fun. An ideal client remembers how to have a good time without taking the day, or life in general, too seriously. This was Ablaza and Cody to a tee. If they were nervous for their big day, you would have never known because they remained super laid back and were never without a joke to crack together. They were carefree in each other’s presence and it was clear to see in them everything you would ever want out of a lifelong partnership. I had previously shot their engagement session in downtown Austin as well as Ablaza’s bridals at the venue in advance, but you never know how the actual wedding day is going to go down until you get there. It went off without a hitch and I couldn’t have asked for a smoother day. On top of the couple already being awesome on their own, both families were equally welcoming and even made me feel like I was part of the family.
The wedding was held at Nature’s Point, which is located just outside of Austin and overlooks Lake Travis. I can’t say enough about this venue and its event coordinator, Krystal. She was fantastic and always willing to jump in to help with any questions or concerns I had throughout the day. Nature’s Point provided endless places to shoot and I found its layout very convenient, as the bridal and groom suites were close enough to one another that I had time to shoot both of them getting ready. I have another wedding booked there for next year and I can’t wait to see this gorgeous space in the fall.
I was floored by the amount of attention that went into every detail of this wedding all the way from the top to the very bottom. First and foremost, Ablaza looked absolutely fabulous in her applique floral gown tied together perfectly with an exquisite rhinestone sash. I also loved how the bridesmaids dresses were all varying shades of pink. The gentlemen looked handsome in their marine uniforms. I could go on and on, but I’ll end with a list of my favorite moments from the day:
1. The vivid spring pink and green flowers in Ablaza’s bouqet
2. They had their Border Collie, Hank, walk down the aisle in a dog tuxedo as the ring bearer
